Do not assume a parking rule in Ayia Napa applies in Protaras. Check the municipality or private operator responsible for the precise site. This guide identifies limited official evidence and gives a practical arrival checklist; it does not provide a verified tariff map.

Ayia Napa: Payment Equipment Is Changing

An Ayia Napa municipal announcement dated 1 July 2026 describes payment-machine installation at Melissi and Lanta beach parking areas as part of Smart Cyprus. It establishes a change in equipment, not a complete visitor tariff or a guarantee that every payment method will work at arrival.

At either site, check whether the machine requires your registration, bay number or a ticket. Read the charging hours and maximum stay. A recollection that the beach was previously free is not sufficient once equipment or rules have changed.

Protaras: Check Use Of The Specific Space

A Paralimni-Deryneia municipal event notice identifies the Fig Tree Bay parking area as an event venue in 2025. That dated notice confirms the named place and illustrates that a parking area may be used for events. It does not prove a current closure, a current price or everyday opening hours.

Check current signs and municipal announcements before relying on that site for a long visit. We have not verified a second Protaras facility with a current official tariff, entrance and opening schedule. Do not interpret that evidence gap as free parking throughout the resort.

Beach-Day Parking Checklist

  • Find the vehicle entrance, rather than driving towards the beach access itself.
  • Check restrictions before unloading children or equipment.
  • Confirm whether a hotel or restaurant space is for customers only.
  • Pay for the correct vehicle and retain the confirmation.
  • Leave emergency routes, accessible bays and loading areas clear.
  • Check closing times and return before any maximum stay expires.

Bring a payment alternative where possible, but do not assume cash and cards are accepted everywhere. If instructions are unclear or a machine fails, use the operator's posted contact route or choose a different lawful space.

Accessibility And Rental Cars

A beach described as accessible does not by itself establish an available accessible parking bay or a step-free route from every car park. Ask the operator about the complete journey from the vehicle to your destination. Confirm whether any parking concession needs prior registration.

Keep valuables out of sight. For a rental car, retain receipts if you later need to query a parking charge or the supplier's administration fee. A fee from the rental company and the parking operator's original charge can be separate items; request a breakdown rather than assuming they are duplicates.
